Art Nouveau Cards

Hello! The card tutorial today focuses on framing up a focal point. Choosing coordinating colors for the background and the focal point are key elements. If there is too much competition between colors or patterns, the focal point naturally gets "lost" in the background. However, by choosing one to two shades either lighter or darker for the background or pulling out coordinating colors from solids and patterned papers, it can set the stage for the focal point. Think of the background of a card as the "jewelry"; the focus should be on the main subject of the card, not on the embellishments.

I created two cards today that start with 5" x 7" cream card stock bases. The ladies for both cards are Cricut Art Nouveau images and were cut at 5".

The background for the first card was made using Spellbinders Small Die of the Month July 2020 / Ornamental Floral Card Creator.

The second card's background was made using Momenta Nested Rectangles and Spellbinders Small Die of the Month May 2020 / Stacked Decorative Edges.

The inside sentiment is from Hampton Art / Portrait of a Lady cling stamps.

I hope you got inspired to create something beautiful today!
